Street Banners: Rotary Nanaimo Celebrates 100 Years

I designed these banners pre-Covid.

When I created them, I was simply following the brief that had been supplied. Rotary does wonderful things for the community and the goal was to represent their core values, which include promoting peace, fighting disease, growing local economies, saving mother and children, supporting education and providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene.

I hadn’t heard of social distancing, face masks and sanitizer weren’t in short supply, and my daughter was able to go to daycare every day. It was a different world.

Now, only a few months later, these banners take on new meaning. The symbols of health, economy, peace and education hold even more significance than they did before. I am proud of our community and I hope that these banners represent that.

Thank you, Rotary and thank you, Nanaimo.
