Case Study: Hotel Zed’s Love Nest

Love Nest is Canada’s first hotel room intentionally designed for sex.

When Hotel Zed approached me to brand their newest in-room experience, Love Nest, I knew it had to be more than just romantic…it had to be rebellious, sexy, and completely on-brand. Hotel Zed is known for breaking the rules of traditional hospitality, so the design needed to stand out at every turn.

I began by crafting a bold visual identity that played with retro influences and saturated colour palettes. From there, I expanded the brand into a full suite of collateral, including custom packaging, in-room signage, menus, postcards, and other tactile elements designed to make guests feel like they’ve stepped into something special.

A major highlight of this project was developing a series of custom illustrations to bring Love Nest to life. These playful line drawings featured everything from room features to toys and games—all designed to feel flirty, fun, and unmistakably Zed. The illustrations were applied across a variety of touchpoints, giving the brand cohesion and charm without being cliché.

From start to finish, this was a dream project: the kind where creativity gets to run wild and personality leads the way. The end result? An immersive, joyfully offbeat experience that invites guests to relax, reconnect, and embrace the unexpected.

So next time you’re staying in beautiful Victoria, BC… treat yourself and your partner(s) (or even just yourself!) to a stay at the Love Nest.
